Magda Roumelioti, a contemporary mosaic artist, finds inspiration in the vibrant heart of Athens, Greece, where she maintains her studio nestled amidst the historical charm and cultural vibrancy of the Acropolis area.
Her artistic journey is deeply rooted in her academic foundation, having studied Lingue Straniere Moderne at the Università di Lettere e Filosofia in Florence. It was her innate curiosity and passion for creative expression that led her towards mosaic artistry—a unique form that harmoniously unites painting, sculpture, design, and decorative arts. Magda embraces mosaic as an expressive medium capable of transcending the material world, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation to evoke profound symbolism and narrative depth.
Her professional journey in mosaic artistry began in earnest in 2007, following an extensive five-year apprenticeship at the Art School of Mosaic. Further enriching her skills, Magda attended specialized mosaic courses at the internationally acclaimed Scuola del Mosaico di Spilimbergo and studied under esteemed mosaic master Marco De Luca during seminars held in Athens. In parallel to her mosaic endeavors, Magda apprenticed at numerous art studios under the guidance of renowned painters, broadening her artistic perspectives and mastery of diverse creative techniques. She also graduated from the distinguished Galileo School of Jewellery Craftsmanship in Athens, bringing a jeweler’s refined attention to detail into her mosaic creations.
As a committed member of the International Contemporary Mosaic Association (AIMC), Magda actively contributes to the global mosaic community, showcasing her innovative artworks and fostering dialogue among contemporary artists worldwide.
Magda Roumelioti’s mosaics are more than mere artworks—they invite the viewer into a rich, textured dialogue of tradition, innovation, and profound beauty.
